HORDLE.

CONTEMPORARY TOWN GARDEN.

This project involved the redesign of both the front and rear gardens of a modern town house, with the aim of creating a strong contemporary identity while improving privacy and everyday usability.

At the front of the property, a raised bed echoes the curved profile of the boundary wall, helping to soften the hard lines of the space. Carefully chosen planting brings seasonal colour and movement. Perovskia, Geranium ‘Rozanne’, Alliums and Osteospermum barbarae contribute structure and long flowering periods, with Trachelospermum jasminoides trained along the wall to add height, scent and a sense of enclosure.

The rear garden was designed as a more private outdoor room, combining clipped box planting with raised beds and built-in seating to create a clear sense of structure and comfort. Slatted red cedar trellis screens the boundaries, offering privacy without heaviness and allowing the planting to take centre stage. A simple, limited palette of materials and plants reinforces the contemporary feel, while the planting softens the space and ensures interest throughout the year.
